Summer Adventure

Summer Adventure Camp is our licensed program and runs all day at elementary schools in Anchorage and Eagle River. Your child can join us for a week or the whole summer! Each day features a variety of hands-on activities where everyone has the opportunity to experience sports, arts and crafts, cooking, and science. Theme weeks, weekly field trips to Camp Fireweed, and special guest visits are all included. If you want your child to learn new skills, get outside, make new friends, play hard, and have quiet time, then this is the program for you!

Fast Facts

  • Open 7:30am to 5:30pm daily
  • June 1—August 6, 2026
  • For youth entering grades 1—7. Prior kindergarten completion required.
  • PEANUT-FREE. No peanuts or peanut products are allowed on site to ensure a safer environment for all campers.
  • $415/week, $330/week for the week of Juneteenth, the week of 4th of July, and the week of August 3rd.
  • $65/Field trip add-on
  • Weekly field trips to Camp Fireweed included for all campers.
  • Add-on field trips are every Wednesday.
  • Accepts Child Care Assistance
  • No camp on June 19 or July 3

For families enrolled in our community center programs at Loussac Place or Muldoon & Tyson Elementary. The summer community center program is provided at no cost to families.

 

 

Daily Schedule

  • 7:30am - 9:00am: Camper Drop-off
  • 8-8:30am: Morning Snack
  • 9:00 am - 11am: Morning Activities
  • 11:00am - 12:15pm: Lunch, Outdoor Recess
  • 12:15pm - 1:45pm: Afternoon Activities
  • 1:45pm - 2:45pm: Snack, Outdoor Recess
  • 2:45pm - 4:00pm: Closing Activities
  • 4:00pm - 5:50pm: Camper Pick-up

Camp Activities

Creative Arts

Camp is full of creative experiences each and every day. We encourage performance art through skits and talent shows, hands on crafts using a wide range of materials from beads to paint to natural objects found outdoors, as well as special daily activities that tie into each weekly theme.

team building
Team Building

Team building activities encourage leadership and communication skills, and challenge campers to step out of their comfort zone as they learn to trust themselves and others around them.

cooking
Cooking

Learning to follow a recipe and measure ingredients, making and serving snacks, and learning where our food comes from and how it gets to us is all a part of our camp curriculum.

science
Science

Mad science and laboratory experiments, new discoveries at NASA and in our solar system, STEM activities, and more will excite young scientists all summer long.

nature
Nature and Outdoor Living

We explore our urban environment—from nature walks to outdoor scavenger hunts, we focus on learning about the plants and animals that live around us, how they impact us and how we impact them. We show kids how to engage with the natural world around them, why unplugging from technology is good for you, and the importance of getting outside each day.

Games

We've got traditional sports like tennis and soccer, group games like tag and Mafia, as well as indoor games when we need them. But we've also got some amazing camp games that you won't find everywhere—Gaga, Nine Square, and our version of the popular Color Campaign.

The Camp Fire Alaska main office operates on the ancestral land of the Dena’ina people. Camp Fire Alaska runs programing on the lands of the Athabascan, Yup’ik, Chup’ik, Sougpiaq, and Inupiaq peoples. We value and thank them for their current and historic commitment to and protection of this land. We pledge to assist, in partnership, in the environmental stewardship of these lands. We strive to learn more about the history of the Native peoples of Alaska and the historic trauma they have suffered. We commit to being an active ally through activities, actions, and organizational decisions and practices. We understand that this is a dynamic process through which our Land Acknowledgement practices, and statement will evolve as we receive feedback from tribal partners and acquire a deeper understanding of and from the Native peoples of Alaska..  (v2)
