Meet School Age Program Director Meghan Boltz, a standout staff member who’s shining bright in this year’s first Spotlight!
Despite a reserved presence, Meghan’s diligence in advancing Camp Fire’s mission leaves an impact. In heartfelt praise, her nominator shares:
“I want to express my gratitude for everything Meghan does. Her hard work, consistency, and quiet dedication never go unnoticed, even though she never asks for recognition.
It’s rare to find someone who gives their all—not for praise, not for attention—but simply because they care about doing things the right way and helping others. Her humility speaks volumes; she lets her actions speak for themselves. And they speak powerfully.
Behind the scenes, she keeps things moving, solving problems before they grow. That kind of integrity and work ethic is not just admirable—it’s essential. She makes a difference, day in and day out.”
Meghan’s steady commitment has truly enriched our programs over the years. Looking back, she shares about her beginnings in childcare and time with Camp Fire:
“I began working with kids when I was in elementary school. My mom owned her own Montessori school, so my passion for working with kids began there. I have been in the field for over 30 years. I worked in a few different agencies before I started with Camp Fire Alaska in 2005. When I first came to Camp Fire, it was because the job’s flexible schedule worked well with having two children at home. I ended up staying with Camp Fire because I love what we do and what we stand for. I love seeing how passionate our staff are when working with the youth we serve. My first site was Chugiak, where I went to elementary school as a child. I started as a Program Staff, but quickly learned I loved being a leader, helping staff and kids find their places in this world. Since then, I moved into a site director role at Chugiak, then took on being program coordinator over the Eagle River Pod for many years, before settling into the School Age Program Director position I am in now. My favorite part about this position is continuing to help staff grow and be passionate about working with kids.”
Meghan’s love for her work shines through, and we’re beyond grateful for her dedication to our mission. She’s helped create a safe space for kids to thrive, and we are so appreciative to have her on board. Thanks, Meghan, for everything you do – you are a valued part of our team!
