Best of Alaska: Camp Fire Wins Big

This year, Camp Fire won big at the Anchorage Daily News Best of Alaska contest. This ranked competition has Alaskans vote for their favorite local businesses. Thanks to your votes,  Camp Fire won in two categories – Platinum for Childcare and Gold for Summer Camp. In November, Camp Fire tabled a booth at the Best of Alaska Showcase, which is a free family-friendly community event.

At our booth, visitors played games of Giant Connect-4 and Giant Jenga, and learned more about our services and programs. We talked with parents about our programs while they enjoyed some quality game time with their families.

The Showcase featured businesses with food, health and fitness exhibits, and even animal attractions! Our booth-neighbor — and future Winter Break Camp guest speaker — Alaska Potbelly Pig Rescue, brought animal friends, including a turtle, parrot, pig, chicken, and goat! There was also live music throughout the afternoon, creating a lively and welcoming ambiance. Certainly, everywhere you looked, guests enjoyed themselves as they learned about local businesses and sampled food and beverages. All in all, the Showcase was an event for everyone to enjoy community and connection with its large crowd and many offerings — there was even a bouncy house!
