2024 Absolutely Incredible Kid Day
We hope you had a happy Absolutely Incredible Kid Day!
This year, Camp Fire Alaska staff gave students personalized letters sharing encouraging messages and positive affirmations. Adults were also encouraged to fill out their own 2024 AIKD Letterheads to share with the kids in their life. We encourage families to read the letters together, and that adults continue to praise the children in their lives, verbally or with their own AIKD letters (download a blank letter here), empowering the youth to continue being their amazing, authentic selves!
Youth in our school age program took part in a variety of fun activities, like creating a Family Tree and making a Friendship Cup. The latter activity allowed students to express to one another the ways they thought the other person is Absolutely Incredible! Every child was given a cup labeled with their name, and stickers to decorate one another’s cups with. Each sticker represented something positive and came with a key that explained what the stickers meant. For example, a sun sticker meant, “You brighten my day!” The goal of the activity was to encourage youth to openly share positive messages with their peers — mission accomplished!
Some program sites invited families to take part in the celebration and do activities alongside their children. They also incorporated food into their events, encouraging staff to bring their favorite childhood foods to share with the youth and families to highlight everyone’s incredible and unique personalities.
Although 2024’s AIKD has ended, we hope adults continue encouraging the youth in their lives, empowering future generations to be bold, bright, and to remain Absolutely Incredible!
