2024-25 Back to School Highlights

With the 2024-25 school year now in full swing, we have some highlights to share about our School Age Program.

OPERATIONAL CHANGES

Starting this year, Camp Fire Alaska began only offering extended afterschool programs operating from 2:30 PM – 6:00 PM.* We will continue offering our out-of-school time programs, like Winter Break Camp , Spring Break Camp, and full day programs. . Parents will be informed of upcoming registration windows for those programs.

*Aquarian operates from 3:15 PM – 6:00 PM.

BACK TO SCHOOL SOCIAL: AN ORGANIZATION-WIDE FAMILY EVENT

On Friday, August 23, all Camp Fire Alaska sites participated in the “Back to School Social” event. This completely free, family-oriented event was the perfect opportunity for parents to get familiar with Camp Fire staff, program schedule, and ask any questions about our programming and the upcoming school year. At the event, families enjoyed fun group activities like board games, crafts, and food.

NEW SITE: SAND LAKE ELEMENTARY

This school year, Camp Fire Alaska has opened a new site at Sand Lake Elementary. Visit our 2024-25 School Age Program Locations webpage for a list of all Camp Fire Alaska’s locations this school year.

On 9/4/2024, Sand Lake youth participated in creating decorations for the US Capitol Tree, which will be coming from Alaska this year. Checkout photos from the event below!

VOA ALASKA’S BACK-TO-SCHOOL BBQ

On 8/8/2024, Camp Fire Alaska helped co-host VOA Alaska‘s Back-to-School BBQ, which featured backpack giveaways, a raffle, free food and entry, and so much more! Checkout pictures from the event below:

LOUSSAC PLACE COMMUNITY BACKPACK & BOOK GIVEAWAY

On 8/8/2024, Camp Fire Alaska led this event with support from other local organizations. The event gave away backpacks and books, donated by KPMG, at the Loussac Place Community Center. Pictures from the event are below:
